Construction work for FAY Projects's FLEXGATE at BER Airport has started
The project developer FAY Projects and GOLDBECK as general contractor have begun construction work on FLEXGATE in the Gatelands business park at the BER Airport. Completion is planned for 2022.
After completion of the archaeological excavations, the project developer FAY Projects, in cooperation with GOLDBECK as general contractor, began construction work for FLEXGATE last week. The new building comprises 14,300 square meters of rental area and 85 underground parking spaces and will be constructed by GOLDBECK’s Berlin-based office and residential building subsidiary, using a prefabricated construction system by the 3rd quarter of 2022.
“The FLEXGATE concept provides flexible office space for a wide range of usage requirements, such as individual, combo, or open-plan offices, as well as quiet, creative, or communal areas,” Clemens Rapp, Managing Director of FAY, commented. “By using a prefabricated construction system, we also ensure a high degree of construction quality,” Thomas Frank, also Managing Director of FAY, added.
A 2,200 square-meter space on the fifth floor has already been leased to the COLLECTION Business Center workspace provider. “Our early leasing success confirms our strategy of creating office space for new companies currently experiencing dynamic growth. With this in mind, we expect demand to remain high, in particular from consulting companies with greater mobility needs as well as from companies with an affinity for aircraft,” Ralph Esser, FAY Managing Director, explained.
At the 100,000 square meter site located between the new BER Airport and the existing Schönefeld Airport (SXF), 267,000 square meters of gross floor space are expected to be built in the coming years.
