New Leonardo Royal Hotel at Berlin Adlershof
With a new major project in Berlin-Adlershof, Leonardo Hotels Central Europe is further expanding its Royal Hotels brand locally. In addition to the Leonardo Royal Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz, the capital city will soon be home to a second grand hotel offering a winning combination of location, functionality, and design: "We are delighted that we have secured the Adlershof location for our new flagship by signing a long-term lease," said Yoram Biton, Managing Director of Leonardo Hotels Central Europe. "Berlin is one of our most important business destinations, the significance of which we're highlighting with our new Leonardo Royal Hotel. The hotel will be just 10 minutes by S-Bahn from the future BER airport, is close to the main city Autobahn, and offers fast connections to the city center. This makes Adlershof the perfect destination for business travelers and tourists alike," says Yoram Biton.
The attractive property right next to the Adlershof S-Bahn station is being developed as a joint venture by Berlin-based project developer immobilien-expert-ag and investor Peakside Capital. The concept won a competition organized by the State of Berlin and will feature nearly 37,000 m² (400,000 sq. ft.) of floor space, including some 145 spaces in the underground parking garage. "We look forward to further cooperation with Leonardo Hotels in developing this project," says Mareike Lechner, CEO of immobilien-expert-ag. The conference hotel will be the core of the new building complex, which will also offer office space, restaurants, and retail space. The new building was designed by Berlin-based GBP Architekten GmbH. "The lease with Leonardo is the first important step in the development of the area with the 54 m (177 feet) landmark and the adjacent OfficeLab campus," added Boris Schran, founding shareholder of Peakside Capital.
Innovative and promising business location
The 24,000 m² (258,000 sq. ft.) hotel will be spread over five floors and a 16-story tower. A sky bar is planned for the top floor and will offer impressive views over the capital region. With its 380 rooms, the Adlershof location will be one of the chain's largest. Conference participants are the particular focus at the new Leonardo Royal Hotel, with the conference and meeting areas covering some 3,400 m² (37,000 sq. ft.). The focal point will be the 1,000 m² (10,700 sq. ft.) ballroom with adjoining atrium. Rounding out the offer on the ground floor will be a creative open lobby and lounge/bar concept and the 850 m² (9,150 sq. ft.) restaurant. In addition, there will be a gym and a sauna as well as an underground parking garage with 100 spaces.
Berlin-Adlershof is known as a location for technology and science, with many start-ups and tech companies making their homes there. "The new Leonardo Royal Hotel blends perfectly into this environment," says the hotel's interior planner Andreas Neudahm, describing the design concept. "Similar to a campus, with a creative meeting area and co-working spaces, the design is imbued with a subtle Silicon Valley charm. Life in the hotel takes place in public spaces which are generously proportioned. We also feature what we're calling cozy corners, small, comfortable seating areas for conversations in smaller groups. With its open and unobtrusive design, the hotel will appeal to all ages and offer free spirits the space they need to fly."
With the new Leonardo Royal Hotel, the hotel group is add its sixth Berlin location, bringing its total offering to 1,495 rooms. Currently included in the portfolio are: Leonardo Royal Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz, Leonardo Hotel Berlin Mitte, Leonardo Boutique Hotel Berlin City South, Leonardo Hotel Berlin City West, and Leonardo Hotel Berlin.
