Goodman develops modern logistics property for Getränke Essmann in Freienbrink
The beverage wholesaler and logistics service provider Getränke Essmann KG is expanding its presence in the eastern German space and is moving into the Berlin Ost Freienbrink freight center (GVZ). The real estate company Goodman is responsible for the project development. They are developing a property specially-tailored to beverage logistics on a property totaling 63,631 square meters. There will be more than 17,958 square meters of outdoor storage space for empty packaging and a building with a total area of 17,635 square meters - including 1,044 square meters of office space, 488 square meters of mezzanine, and 2,167 square meters of covered outdoor storage space.
Construction of the new property starts in August 2018 and the handover is scheduled for March 2019. The Essmann logistics site will be fully equipped with LED lighting to increase energy efficiency and reduce consumption costs. In addition, it features high-quality insulation of the facade and roof as well as the use of efficient building heating. Markus Riegeler, Commercial Director and manager for location development at Getränke Essmann, explains: “With the commissioning of the location in Freienbrink in 2019, in addition to Potsdam, we will optimally cover Berlin’s metropolitan area and be able to meet customer requirements even better and more efficiently.”
In the Greater Berlin area, Goodman has already developed logistics centers for well-known companies such as GLX, DB Schenker, Kuehne + Nagel, and Home24 in the GVZs Freienbrink, Großbeeren, and Ludwigsfelde – a total of around 130,000 square meters of logistics space since 2014. As the Berlin area is one of Goodman’s key regions, the company is also speculatively building here - the current 13,500 square meters in Großbeeren. In addition, other capacities are available.
