Groundbreaking ceremony for the Zalando Headquarters Project in Berlin

On September 6, 2016, the groundbreaking ceremony was held for the construction of Zalando SE’s future headquarters in Berlin.

In attendance were Michael Müller, governing mayor of Berlin, Andreas Geisel, Senator for Urban Development and the Environment, Senate Building Director Regula Lüscher, and David Schneider, founder of and board member at Zalando SE.   The seven-story office complex on the Anschutz compound in Berlin-Friedrichshain will be completed by 2018 by Münchner Grund Immobilien Bauträger GmbH, a subsidiary of UBM Development AG.) The construction permit for the project was issued in August. Zalando will be leasing a total of 45,600 square meters of floor space in the building. The Zalando Headquarters will consist of two buildings with 31,000 and 14,600 square meters of floor space, and will be built according to plans drafted by the architectural firm HENN. HENN won the architectural competition for the project. Around 2,700 Zalando employees will be working in this office complex in the future. PORR Germany, a full-service provider, was commissioned with the construction work.
