Rhenus Home Delivery growing in Hoppegarten
Rhenus Home Delivery delivers up to 850 shipments daily to consumers in Berlin and Brandenburg from its Hoppegarten base. In order to cope with the strong growth in online shipping and customer deliveries, the logistics service provider has expanded its headquarters in Hoppegarten to 70,000 m² (750,000 sq. ft.) of storage space.
Around 150 customers, employees, and representatives of the world of politics and business celebrated the opening of the new building on 8 September after a construction period of one year. The new 13,000 m² (140,000 sq. ft.) building means Rhenus Home Delivery now has four warehouses and an office complex at Hoppegarten. The first 21,000 m² (226,000 sq. ft.) extension was completed two years ago.
"Our assembly and delivery teams are on the streets of Berlin and Brandenburg day-in and day-out. We are growing at an annual rate of over ten percent and have been able to create many new jobs. Our gateway in Hoppegarten is being used in particular by companies manufacturing in Central Europe. With this expansion, we are setting the course for the future and creating attractive working conditions for our employees," says Nicolas Rottmann, Managing Director of Rhenus Home Delivery.
Cabinets, kitchens, mattresses, and many other furniture and large appliances from furniture and electronics retailers are stored in the logistics center. Once the order is received, they are delivered by teams of two to the end customer. The teams also assemble and connect the devices as part of the services offered by Rhenus Home Delivery.
