Verdion and Rockspring rent 10,500 square metres of logistics space in the Airpark Berlin
Verdion, a project developer focusing on European logistics real estate, and Rockspring Property Investment Managers LLP (Rockspring) have rented 10,500 square metres in the 90 million Euro Verdion Airpark Berlin project development.
DÜRKOP GmbH, with its business focus on finished vehicle sales and the supply of spare parts from brand workshops, will take over 9,065 square metres of warehouse, 670 square metres of mezzanine and 725 square metres of office space. This is the first rental in the Phase 2 Logistics property in the Airpark project that Verdion is developing together with a fund managed by Rockspring. Previously, even before its completion in 2016, the approximately 29,500 square metre logistics property of Phase 1 had already been rented to Bringmeister (Edeka Group), DACHSER SE & PUK.
With this rental the first half of the speculative, phase 2 logistics property has been rented. For the rental of the second half, negotiations are currently taking place with other interested parties.
The Verdion Airpark Berlin is conveniently located near the city centre of Berlin, just two kilometres from the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport and is connected to the road and rail infrastructure. The project with 92,000 square metres of rentable space, will be handed over in several stages, including both speculative and built-to-suit storage units from 5,000 to 29,500 square metres. The units are designed according to the highest standards and customer requirements in order to meet the strong demand for logistics space of 3PL, retailers and e-tailers.
The project development will have a projected market value of more than 90 million Euro on completion. Stephan Dalbeck, Business and Portfolio Director at Verdion, explains: "The success in renting the partially speculative DC1 has encouraged us to build DC2 completely speculatively. We have been rewarded for this and also consider the further rental in a very positive way. The demand for high quality logistics space in this outstanding location continues without letup." Stuart Reid, Partner at Rockspring and responsible for the Germany business, explains: "The decision to locate in the immediate vicinity of Berlin has again been confirmed by the extremely gratifying rental of the Airpark Berlin. Our tenants with different logistics concepts from different sectors are proof that with an intelligent real estate concept a variety of solutions are able to be implemented for our tenants."
