BAUWERT AG in the presence of the Senator for Urban Development, Construction and Housing, Christian Gaebler, Kreuzberg-Friedrichhains Baustadtrat Florian Schmidt and about 200 invited guests symbolically laid the foundation stone for the New Bock Brewery in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

On the approx. 13,000 sqm site in the middle of the Bergmannkiez, not far from Kreuzberg and the Tempelhofer Feld, BAUWERT will be building a new urban quarter in the popular western part of Kreuzberg over the next few years. This has a total usable area of approximately 32,000 sqm with a broad-based, urban use concept. After seven years of planning and approval, not only 130 condominiums are being built here, but also urgently needed new rental apartments, micro-apartments and subsidized housing. This is rounded off by gastronomy, a daycare center for children, space for neighborhood-based businesses, and approximately 10,500 sqm of state-of-the-art office space planned by Tchoban Voss Architekten.

In the course of the laying of the foundation stone, BAUWERT set up a children's construction site on the site for the little architects, master builders and craftsmen of the future, which proved very popular.

Christian Gaebler, Senator for Urban Development, Construction and Housing: "With the Neue Bockbrauerei, BAUWERT AG is realizing the famous Kreuzberg mixture and creating added value in the middle of our city. In order to create a vibrant city, we must always think about and plan housing, leisure, sports, culture and work in an integrated way when developing new neighborhoods and projects. I am glad that today's laying of the foundation stone brings to an end a long planning run-up and finally makes visible what is to be created here. On this day, I congratulate BAUWERT AG on its 40th anniversary. Under the leadership of shareholders and board members Dr. Jürgen Leibfried, Michael Staudinger and board member Daniel Herrmann, it has become one of the leading project developers in Germany."

Working closely with BAUWERT, we created an environment that meets the highest standards of workspace and sustainability. Our goal was to create a synthesis of living and working environments as well as to seamlessly integrate the historic cellars of the brewery as well as the companies and institutions already operating here into the project. The material and design language follows the tradition of Berlin's industrial architecture and the Bock Brewery."

"The collaboration with Bonanni Gesellschaft von Architekten and Tchoban Voss Architekten was characterized by creativity and expertise from the very beginning. With their designs, our architects succeeded in picking up on Kreuzberg's special courtyard culture and, at the same time, creating a creative campus with the office and commercial building that fits Kreuzberg. The Neue Bockbrauerei will be a lively place: The new and the old neighborhood can meet here. With the neighborhood, we are also creating a green oasis in the middle of Berlin," adds BAUWERT-Managing Director Daniel Herrmann.
