A dynamic economic region stretching from the busy Berlin environs to the south of the city and right up to the municipalities around Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) – this is the Airport Region Berlin Brandenburg. Its excellent infrastructure, first-class business locations, innovative technology centers and motivated skilled workforce make it an ideal company location. Be it global corporations, medium-sized companies or startups – the company landscape of the Airport Region Berlin Brandenburg is just as diverse as the industries represented here.
The Airport Region Team is a cooperation of the two business development agencies, Berlin Partner for Business and Technology and the Economic Development Agency Brandenburg (WFBB) and is focused on economically strengthening the region around Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER). With headquarters directly at BER Airport, we are the first point of contact for companies interested in opening new branches or offices in the region.
Our close cooperation with the respective industry experts of each economic development agency means that we can support you with all your questions regarding company expansions and settlements.
"The region around BER airport is developing into one of the outstanding business locations in the German capital region." Dr. Steffen Kammradt (Wirtschaftsförderung Brandenburg, CEO)
"We are already registering concrete settlement projects that can be traced back to the international airport. This knock-on effect will only increase because the Airport Region Berlin Brandenburg is extremely attractive for investors." Dr. Stefan Franzke (Berlin Partner, CEO)
The European real estate company Covivio reports full occupancy of its office building, located in the Johannisthal neighborhood in southeast Berlin. Deutsche Bahn AG is renting the entire office building with around 5,100 m² of office and storage space for its subsidiary DB Training, Learning & Consulting on a long-term basis. Covivio will adapt the five-story property, which has been in the portfolio since 2019, to the wishes and requirements of the tenant over the coming months. In addition, as part of the sought-after BREEAM In-Use certification “Very Good”, a sustainable improvement in operational performance is taking place, for example in the area of energy efficiency. A photovoltaic system is also planned. The handover to DB Training is expected to take place in the third quarter of 2023. Engel & Völkers Berlin acted in an advisory capacity during the brokering.
Friederike Hoberg, Head of German Offices Covivio: “We are delighted to welcome Deutsche Bahn AG as our new tenant. The decision of the leading German mobility and transport company for our property is also a confirmation of our Europe-wide strategy of following the needs of the users and offering tailor-made solutions, be it the floor plan, the individualized interior design or the complete equipment.
The building is located in the southeast of Berlin in the Johannisthal district, directly adjacent to the Adlershof business and science location. Like all Covivio portfolio properties, it is characterized by very good public transport connections. The proximity to BER Airport and the striking location near the Adlergestell and the A113 motorway feeder make this location particularly attractive for the future training center.
“With the move to the new building, we are increasing our training area by around 2,000 m² and preparing the DB Group’s trainees in an optimum way for their everyday work. We are pleased to be able to offer our young colleagues ideal conditions with this training workshop,” says Silke Tegenkamp, Head of Vocational Training at DB Training, Learning & Consulting, the qualification and consulting provider of the DB Group.
