Issue 07/2025 | Shaping the Future: High-Tech, Growth and Global Connectivity

June 4, 2025

Dear readers,

The Airport Region Berlin Brandenburg kicks off the summer with strong innovative momentum.
From cutting-edge research projects and sustainable urban quarters to new international flight connections – the region presents itself as diverse, future-oriented, and globally connected.

With the newly launched Berlin Battery Lab, BAM, HZB, and Humboldt University Berlin are pooling their expertise to develop tomorrow’s energy storage technologies. The Ferdinand-Braun-Institut and the IKZ are also setting important impulses for Europe’s high-tech future through top-tier research in laser technologies and semiconductors. At the same time, new spaces for start-ups, creatives, and life science innovations are being created – ranging from Halle 2 on the ringberlin campus to new hotel and commercial developments.

And: Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is not only expanding its reach with a new direct connection to Toronto – it was also honored with an innovation award at the Future Travel Experience industry event – a strong signal of the location’s growing international relevance.
