Art-Invest receives building permit for M50 - the Design Tower

Art-Invest Real Estate has received the building permit for the M50 – Der Design Tower, a construction phase of the three-part quarter "Die Macherei Berlin-Kreuzberg". With a gross floor area of 30,500 sqm, the 24-storey design tower is one of the most climate-friendly high-rise buildings in Germany and the centerpiece of the quarter. The former Postscheckamt Berlin-West will be preserved as an existing building and completely revitalized. Eike Becker Architekten is responsible for the architecture of the structure.

To ensure a high level of environmental friendliness, Art-Invest Real Estate is relying on ecological revitalization rather than a completely new building in the development of M50. In addition to the resource-saving refurbishment, the building's various modernizations, particularly the approximately 760 sqm facade PV system with 85 MWh/a, ensure a significant reduction in CO2 emissions and demonstrate the possibilities for sustainable revitalization.

On 19 floors, each with approximately 1,000 sqm of office space, there is a flexible room concept for optimal and representative new work conditions to do justice to the modern working world. A sky-bar with a 270-degree view of the capital is located on the building's roof. Other innovative concepts can be found on the lower floors, including a fitness studio with an outdoor parcours for sports activities during lunch, a co-working space with a pitching studio, and a variety of gastronomic options.

"The M50 is a landmark project with historical significance: the past, present, and future are all intertwined in this structure. We are thrilled to be reviving the former postal check office and creating a space where work and leisure can coexist," commented Lena Brühne, partner and Berlin branch manager at Art-Invest Real Estate, on receiving the building permit.
