The Food Campus Berlin, innovation center for the future of nutrition and planetary health solutions, is being built on a 14,000 square meter site directly on the Teltow Canal in Berlin Tempelhof-Schöneberg. The Food Campus sees itself as a solution site for a sustainable food industry and as a transformation accelerator for the agricultural and food turnaround.
The unique selling point of the Food Campus is its holistic approach - with the goal of rethinking and reshaping the future of food with the entire community. This is ensured by the infrastructure of the campus ecosystem, which consists of startups, established companies (who want to make an active contribution to the development and production of sustainable food systems), science and research. The inclusion of upstream and downstream stages of the value chain creates a unique farm-to-lab-to-table community, whose members work together on concepts for the people of today and the world of tomorrow.
Food Campus Berlin goes digital.
While the construction process of the physical Food Campus Berlin will still take about two years until completion, the Food Campus Digital has already been launched as a virtual solution site. The Food Campus Digital sees itself as a B2B platform for experts with a focus on community matching, trend analysis, exchange and further education for the development of a food system within planetary boundaries. At the heart of the Food Campus Digital are the community members, who form the basis for the development of successful and forward-looking solution concepts along the entire value chain. The goal of the Digital Food Campus is networking as well as information sharing, knowledge transfer, and competence and synergy building within the food and agricultural industry.
"This is a great opportunity for all stakeholders to face the Planetary Health issues now and work together to find solutions for the future," says Theresa Hingsammer, project manager Food Campus Digital. The Food Campus community now already includes more than 5,000 followers from all relevant sectors - and the number is growing.
