As Berlin's economic development agency, Berlin Partner für Wirtschaft und Technologie GmbH, on behalf of the Berlin Senate and under the umbrella of the Masterplan Industriestadt Berlin 2022-2026, is developing with other cooperation partners a strong innovation network for stakeholders from business and science. The aim is to establish AMBER as a regional umbrella brand and to create a platform to tap available competencies as well as synergies. The goal is to make the Berlin metropolitan region the 3D printing capital of Europe with AMBER (Additive Manufacturing Berlin Brandenburg).
With the help of test fields, showrooms and its leading conferences, Berlin is being further developed into an international platform for new production technologies - and is thus becoming a catalyst for the rapid transfer of research results into sustainable and internationally competitive innovations.
In 2022, this was supported by a special call for funding from state resources (ProFIT) amounting to more than EUR 13 million. The call focused on medical technology, bio-based materials, construction/lightweight design, and AM in space. The topics of training and further education opportunities as well as regional experimental fields and printing capacities will also be further developed under AMBER in the future.
3D printing network meeting
With the goal of exchanging information about industrial 3D printing, we organize the 3D printing network meeting in Berlin at least twice a year. These events bring together participants from companies, startups and science. The aim of this platform is to introduce new players, jointly expand strengths and competencies in the field of additive manufacturing, discuss innovative solutions and advance new business models in cooperation with industry. In addition to interesting key notes, there will also be best practice examples and innovations on the market from companies and scientific institutions from the industry that will be presented in the form of short pitches. Networking between the players from startups, industry and science is the overriding purpose of the series of events.
Tradition meets innovation
With its combination of traditional companies, lively startup scene and first-class research institutions, the German capital region’s manufacturing industry offer excellent opportunities for businesses seeking an innovative environment. It covers Industry 4.0, additive manufacturing, the electrical industry, mechanical and plant engineering, plastics, chemistry, metal, and nutrition.
The companies of these “classic” industries play a significant role in developing top technologies and ensure networked supplier relationships in the capital region.
