After the building permit was issued at the beginning of January, construction work has now begun on the office project “Am Postbahnhof” in Berlin-Friedrichshain. The project is being jointly developed by Rainer Bahr of Econcept and Holger Rausch of Minerva. They have been successfully completing joint real estate projects since 2006, such as the Sapphire on Chausseestraße in Berlin-Mitte. Modern office space is being developed on almost 26,000 square meters and supplemented by a restaurant and fitness area, as well as extensive roof terraces. Completion of the office project in Quartier Mediaspree is scheduled for the end of 2023.
History reinterpreted
The design of the new building conceptually picks up on the structural and design elements of the neighboring old Postbahnhof buildings and reinterprets them in a very unique way. The new building sees itself as a structural addition to its historic neighbor and in its appearance seeks more of a connection to the existing buildings to be integrated, the viaduct and the water tower. The goal of the design is to show a very self-confident signature of its own, to create a close relationship in terms of form and materials to the surrounding historic stock, and thus to clearly contrast with the new buildings already erected or under construction in the immediate vicinity.
Between creative and digital
The attitude toward life along the Spree: in the middle of Berlin, between new, high-end buildings and classic Gründerzeit courtyards, a very unique, international business scene has established itself. Today, Mediaspree is one of the most dynamic and attractive office locations in the capital. Not least thanks to big names like Mercedes-Benz, Coca-Cola, Universal, or Zalando. In this neighborhood, directly between the former Postbahnhof and the new Spreeturm, Am Postbahnhof offers an exquisite enclave for all those who simply want to feel good, even at work.
