Despite the war in Iran and the warning strike on 18 March 2026, more people travelled through BER Airport last March than in the same month of 2025. Preliminary traffic report figures show that 1.98 million passengers in total took off and landed at Berlin Brandenburg Airport last month, 1.2 percent more than in March 2025.
The situation and the strike day had a particular impact on the number of flight movements and cargo loads: In total, some 14,700 aircraft took off and landed at BER last month, 3.6 percent fewer than in the same month last year. Due to the situation in the Middle East, airlines cancelled about 450 flights last March between Berlin Brandenburg Airport and airports in the Middle East region, such as Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Tel Aviv and Beirut. During the warning strike by the ver.di trade union on 18 March 2026, about 430 aircraft were unable to take off or land at BER.
In total, 2,900 tonnes of cargo were handled at BER in March 2026, one third less than in March 2025.
