First openings and new tenants for the urban quarter AM TACHELES

After office leases were signed with the pharmaceutical company Pfizer and the law firm K&L Gates in recent months for the AM TACHELES urban quarter, the first two retail tenants now moved into their store spaces yesterday. One of the most modern REWE stores in Berlin has opened on 3,300 sqm. Right next door, Rossmann completes the neighborhood's local supply offering with a 1,100 sqm store.

The next milestone will be the opening of the Fotomuseum Fotografiska in the former Kunsthaus Tacheles in September, which will breathe new life into the cultural location. Fotografiska is one of the most successful photo museums in the world and will attract visitors as a cultural magnet.

The shopping experience, in the AM TACHELES district accessible around the clock, is complemented by an attractive range of restaurants, cafés and lifestyle concepts along the new public thoroughfare from Friedrichstrasse to Oranienburger Strasse and the newly created squares. These include a showroom of the car brand CUPRA, the steakhouse The Dry Gin & Beef, Starbucks, Brooklyn Fitboxing, Apló, Maxim Coffee and Shapesty, turning the neighborhood into a new hotspot with inspiring retail concepts and exceptional gastronomy.

At the end of September 2023, the new CUPRA City Garage will open in the landmark ORO building. A meeting place will be created, combining gastro-lab and fusion bar with ideas from Berlin's urban art and music, offering plenty of space to experience the brand's spirit and models. Michael Wilhelmer, recently awarded the prestigious title of "Gastronome of the Year", will open The Dry Gin & Beef Club Berlin on approximately 290 sqm.

The coffee house chain Starbucks will open a new branch at the entrance to the Friedrichstrasse neighborhood later this year.

Brooklyn Fitboxing is planning an innovative concept of boxing training, fitness and entertainment at LAIKA. The Apló Greek Kitchen & Foods restaurant will treat guests to modern Greek-inspired food and drinks at the leafy Aaron Bernstein Platz. Under the Café Maxim brand, a well-known Berlin café operator is continuing a concept that is already providing special moments of enjoyment in Hamburg's Alsterhaus. Shapesty is the first Lagree studio to move into Berlin-Mitte. Lagree is an innovative training method that uses new Megaformer fitness equipment to create a high-intensity version of Pilates.

Commenting on the new leases, Daniel Havers, executive director pwr development, said, "The leases from retailers and restaurateurs are not only a win for the district, but also for neighbors and all Berliners. Our retailers as well as the top-class tenants of the office space stand for the concept of a mix of uses including working, living, shopping, gastronomy as well as art and culture. We are delighted to have attracted such dynamic and renowned companies to our flexible and high-quality office space. All leases are "green leases," demonstrating the clear sustainability commitment of all parties involved."
