In a prime inner-city location, Gewobag is developing a mixed-use property with a total of 211 apartments, a daycare center, and more than 5,000 m² of commercial space. It is scheduled to be complete by the end of 2022.
"We are very pleased that we will be able to give more than 200 Berlin households a diverse new home in the central location of Schöneberger Linse. The result is high-end architectural design and energy-efficient urban neighborhood project where 90% of the apartments will be barrier-free. We are offering half of the apartments at subsidized rents of €6.50/m² net, while the other half will rent of less than €10/m² on average. A daycare center on the ground floor, over 5,000 m² of commercial space, and an underground garage with 92 parking spaces will add to the well-known 'Berlin mix,'" Snezana Michaelis, member of the Gewobag executive team, explains.
Sebastian Scheel, Senator for Urban Development and Housing, commented: “Berlin continues to face the challenge of building inexpensive apartments on a large scale while remaining a livable and diverse city. The new urban district Schöneberger Linse between the Südkreuz and the Schöneberg rail stations is an excellent example of careful city-center development that takes the existing urban space into account. An attractive quarter is being created here. It will be a good place to live, work, and enjoy life."
"With this and other projects here in the district, Gewobag is committed to ensuring that Tempelhof-Schönberg continues to grow while remaining a livable and affordable home for all Berliners," says Jörn Oltmann, Deputy District Mayor and District Councilor for Urban Development and Building, Tempelhof-Schöneberg.
Tempelhof-Schöneberg is one of the core districts where Gewobag is active; its current portfolio includes some 6,800 apartments. Further construction projects in the district include 137 apartments being built at Wohnpark Mariendorf and about 120 apartments planned for Meraner Straße at Am Mühlenberg.
