Hall 2 at ringberlin: Mobility concept awarded Gold

A provisional 'Good Mobility' certificate has been issued for the listed Hall 2 at ringberlin. The mobility concept has now been awarded the pre-certification "Pre-Certified Good Mobility Gold" by the Good Mobility Council. This certification confirms that the planned mobility offerings will provide attractive and efficient solutions for all future user groups.

Significance of the Mobility Transition for Tempelhof-Schöneberg

Jörn Oltmann, District Mayor of Tempelhof-Schöneberg, also attended the certification ceremony: "Our district boasts numerous established and historic commercial districts. Making them fully future-proof is a significant and rewarding task. I am pleased that with Hall 2 of ringberlin, we have a project in Tempelhof-Schöneberg that actively demonstrates how the mobility transition can be shaped. I wish the project continued success!"

Christian Scheler, Founder and Managing Director of the Good Mobility Council, explained: "With strong innovative impulses ringberlin sets an example for the mobility transition as well. The pre-certification of the planned measures for Hall 2 marks the completion of the first fundamental step. We look forward to further collaboration and achieving the next milestones."

Optimal Connectivity to the Public Transport Network

A key element of the sustainable mobility concept for Hall 2 is its connectivity to the nearby transport network, including access to the S-Bahn station Attilastraße, less than two kilometers away, and the planned S-Bahn station Kamenzer Damm. Bicycles are a major mode of transport in this context. Plans include providing bike parking spaces, as well as showers and lockers on each floor. A repair service, along with charging stations for e-bikes, is also part of the concept.

The offering will be further expanded by adding a jelbi station on Ringstraße, featuring bike, e-scooter, and e-car sharing options. Accessibility requirements will also be addressed with features such as mechanically assisted door openers, wheelchair-friendly access points, and high-contrast colors in entry areas.

Holistic Approach for ringberlin

Matthias Menger, Managing Director of ringberlin, emphasized the importance of the pre-certification for the holistic concept of ringberlin: "Sustainability is considered in a holistic manner. That’s why we are deeply engaged with the future Makerspace in Hall 2 and its impact on neighbors and the city. Sustainable mobility and particularly last-mile optimization for connectivity play a prominent role in this. We are excited to have set the first stage for Hall 2 together with the Good Mobility Council."

Hall 2 as a Center for Innovation

The approximately 17,000 square meters of Hall 2 will serve as a Makerspace featuring workshops with machine infrastructure, coworking and office spaces, maker garages, and testing areas for innovative companies, startups, and SMEs. The completion of this startup center, funded by GRW resources, is planned for the end of 2026.

ringberlin: Innovation and Tradition in Berlin-Mariendorf

ringberlin, located on Ringstraße in Berlin-Mariendorf, is owned by the German Schindler Group, a subsidiary of the global elevator and escalator corporation Schindler. The startup center, located in the former production hall (Hall 2) of the campus, will be leased by ringberlin Halle 2 Projektgesellschaft mbH, which is majority-owned by the non-profit Bildung und Kultur Mariendorf gGmbH. After completion, 17,000 square meters of rental space will be handed over to a general subtenant to operate the startup center for innovative small businesses, startups, and founders.

The project developer for ringberlin is ringberlin Projektentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH, and the project developer is KOIMO Development GmbH, Berlin.
