The joint venture between the KLINGSÖHR Group and DERECO has handed over another rental space in the SHED project in Berlin-Neukölln. The SRH University of Applied Science (SRH) had already rented the space at the start of construction of the project in 2021. A total of 13,000 square metres of space has now been handed over to the university. "With the SRH University moving in and the start of teaching in the 2024/2025 winter semester, our neighbourhood will continue to be filled with life," says Stefan Klingsöhr, Managing Partner of the KLINGSÖHR Group. “We have extensively developed the space according to the tenant's wishes. This enabled us to provide the SRH University and its students with high-end seminar rooms, an automotive lab, a photo studio, a library, laboratories and several recording studios, among other things.”
Founded in 2002, SRH is a private, state-recognised university in Berlin. It teaches students from 100 nations in 65 study programmes. The future SRH Campus in Berlin will offer space for 3,500 students from the fields of management, technology, design, music and the arts. These students are currently studying at three locations in Charlottenburg, Kreuzberg and Schöneberg. SRH University's plan is to create a central campus.
David Noll, Member of the Management Board of DERECO Holding GmbH: “By handing over the rental space to SRH, we have reached a major milestone for SHED, which is now nearing completion. In a direct waterside location, we are providing the renowned university with modern premises with high-quality facilities that promote learning and personal development in an inspiring atmosphere. We at DERECO recognised the potential of the NEUE UFER site very early on and are delighted to be supporting Neukölln's transformation into Berlin's new tech and research hub.”
The SHED building ensemble, located directly on Berlin's S-Bahn ring road, offers around 35,000 square metres of office space on a site measuring more than 15,500 square metres. The investment volume amounts to around 240 million euros. The project is being financed by Berliner Sparkasse. The developer is a joint venture between the KLINGSÖHR Group and DERECO. With an occupancy rate of more than 80 per cent, the SHED project is almost fully let.
SHED is part of the NEUE UFER development site in Berlin-Neukölln, which includes the HOHE NEUN project by the KLINGSÖHR Group and DERECO, as well as the new Estrel Tower in Berlin, which will be the tallest building in Berlin at 176 metres when it is completed in 2025. The DOXS NKLN project completes the development site.
