KNAUER focuses on innovation and sustainability
KNAUER Scientific Instruments GmbH is investing millions in the expansion of its production facility at Hegauer Weg in Berlin-Zehlendorf. The aim of the extensive construction measures is to meet the increased production requirements and to further increase efficiency through automation.
New Logistics and Storage Solutions for Efficient Production
A key component of the renovation is the construction of a new logistics centre on the ground floor. This will shorten distances and optimise the incoming and outgoing goods process. A new gate will significantly simplify logistics. Storage space will also be used more efficiently. In particular, a new automated storage tower will be built, providing space-saving and efficient storage on four floors.
The storage tower will significantly improve the availability of materials for production, testing and logistics. The tower was completed by the end of March, significantly speeding up production processes. The challenge with these renovations is that they have to be carried out during ongoing operations. However, CEO Alexandra Knauer is confident that the effort will quickly pay off. "Our increased production capacity will make the effort worthwhile," says Knauer.
Innovation in Laboratory Equipment: Fraction Collector and Oligonucleotide Synthesizer
In addition to expanding production capacity, KNAUER is focusing on innovation. The company is launching new products in the field of laboratory equipment. The Fraction Collector, a device for liquid chromatography systems, precisely collects separated substances in small vessels, thus improving efficiency in the laboratory. Another highlight is the Oligonucleotide Synthesizer, which makes it possible to produce nucleotide chains for molecular biology and medicine, including PCR technology and genetic testing.
