As part of the ZIA Innovation Radar 2023, the neighborhood development "Die Macherei Berlin-Kreuzberg" by the project developer Art-Invest Real Estate was awarded as Outstanding Innovation in the category "Liveable Cities and Regions" by the Innovation Think Tank of the leading association of the real estate industry. The jury thus rates the project as particularly innovative in the industry.
"The quarter offers outstandingly good solutions for diverse demands on contemporary project developments. These include the mix of living, working and leisure, of social and privately financed housing, the continued use of existing building fabric, the timber hybrid construction method and the climate-neutral operation," reads the jury's assessment.
The Macherei Berlin-Kreuzberg is characterized by a mixture of ecologically renovated existing buildings and two modern new buildings that meet the highest energy standards. As a mixed-use quarter for living and working, the building ensemble closes the gap between the districts of Kreuzberg and Mitte and creates a high quality of stay through open spaces as well as gastronomy and local shopping facilities. The use of smart technologies and the promotion of sustainable forms of mobility round off the concept.
"With our Macherei Berlin-Kreuzberg, we are showing what a green neighborhood can look like. We want to consciously set an example for more sustainability in the building sector and future-oriented urban development. We are all the more pleased to receive the Outstanding Innovation award from the Innnovationsradar jury," says Lena Brühne, Managing Director at Art-Invest Real Estate in Berlin.
