CA Immo has concluded a long-term lease agreement with SPIEGEL-Verlag Rudolf Augstein GmbH & Co. KG (DER SPIEGEL) for around 2,000 m² of office space in the John F. Kennedy Haus, located directly on Berlin's Washingtonplatz. At the same time, other existing tenants have extended their leases for around 4,000 sqm of office space. In addition, two new leases have been signed with a café and a restaurant on the ground floor. This means that the building, which has a total rental area of around 18,000 sqm, remains fully let on a long-term basis.
SPIEGEL will relocate its capital office to the John F. Kennedy Haus in spring 2026. The modern office building is located in Berlin's Europacity, directly adjacent to the main railway station and Spreebogen – opposite the Federal Chancellery and the government district.
Robert Wendker, Head of Real Estate and Facility Management at SPIEGEL-Verlag Rudolf Augstein GmbH & Co. KG: “For SPIEGEL, the location of the John F. Kennedy Haus in the immediate vicinity of the government district and its excellent connections to the main railway station are key location factors. At the same time, we are impressed by the high quality of the building and its sustainable design – ideal conditions for our Berlin office.”
Sonja Bischoff, Head of CA Immo Berlin: “With SPIEGEL, we welcome a renowned tenant to one of our premium properties in Berlin. We completed the John F. Kennedy Haus in 2015 as one of the first office buildings in Europacity. We have now successfully entered the second phase of leasing, as demonstrated by the new agreements with SPIEGEL and the restaurant operators, as well as the long-term contract extensions with existing tenants. In addition to its excellent location, the building's high-quality space, new, attractive lobby and a communal roof terrace with views over the Spree, the government district and large parts of the city are all factors in its favour.”
The John F. Kennedy Haus, designed by Auer+Weber+Assoziierte, is located directly at Berlin Central Station and Washingtonplatz. The building was completed in 2015 and awarded the Platinum certificate for outstanding sustainability by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).
