Mercedes-Benz subsidiary MBition rents 17,000 sqm in “BERLIN DECKS”

In the future, the software developer MBition will benefit from state-of-the-art office and testing facilities in BERLIN DECKS, which is being built directly on the banks of the Spree Canal in Berlin-Moabit. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz AG, MBition develops and integrates the next generation of Mercedes-Benz in-car infotainment systems based on the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MBOS).

For this purpose, BEOS AG, together with the future tenant of the 17,000 square meter urban commercial district, has developed a heterogeneous, individual workplace concept that includes combined workspaces made up of test benches that can be driven on, digital laboratories, event space, and flexible office worlds, which make up around 60 percent of the rental space. In this way, MBition will have premises available after completion that correspond to all the processes taking place on site and can be used flexibly. The highest standards of IT infrastructure and security requirements are also implemented within the concept.

“Developing these tailor-made and highly complex space concepts together with the tenant in the shortest possible time and implementing them together in a binding manner in the currently adapted market environment requires trust, cooperation and foresight in accordance with our culture of thinking ahead. We are proud once again to be able to demonstrate our abilities as a reliable system partner to German industry,” says Jan Plückhahn, CEO of BEOS AG. The rented area accounts for around 40 percent of the total area volume. A total of 45,000 square meters will be developed on the site. Angermann Real Estate Advisory AG acted as a consultant for the leasing.

The laying of the foundations heralds the start of construction
In addition to the signed rental agreement, the laying of the foundations for Building 1 was also celebrated. In addition to the new tenant and the entire project team, representatives from politics as well as Implenia, who is the general contractor for Building 1, were present on site. This further milestone also marks the start of all four new buildings. Currently, further promising talks are already being held with potential tenants, which reinforce the aspired approach of BERLIN DECKS of a sustainable research and media campus. The resource-saving wood-hybrid construction combined with the technical requirements for future climate-neutral use meet the highest standards of sustainable project developments.

“With the start of construction and the leasing to MBition, we have reached the next major milestones of the future district,” says Tony Paumer, Senior project manager at BEOS AG in Berlin. “For us, BERLIN DECKS is about acting sustainably on many levels. In addition to living responsibility for a more ecological real estate industry, the social component also plays an important role. That is why we want to develop further and promote the development of communities. This requires direct dialogue, which is additionally enlivened by campus concepts of this kind.”
