„The development of the airport region, which extends across Berlin's southeast and the Brandenburg municipalities adjacent to BER, speaks for itself.“

Felix Gold, Managing Director, DIEAG Investmentmanagement GmbH

What are your business plans for the Berlin-Brandenburg Airport Region?

During our many years of involvement in Schönefeld, we have developed, built, and leased numerous projects in the newly created districts and have successfully completed them with the handover to the new owners.

In Schönefeld we are currently concentrating on leasing our office ensemble “Mizar Gate Office”. Several tenant fit-outs are currently underway. The “Mizar Gate Office” is already benefiting from the numerous hotel, office, and residential developments in the vicinity, resulting in an occupancy rate of over 90 percent. The Novum Hospitality Group has also entered long-term leases for two out of the three individual buildings for serviced apartments and for a hotel.

In addition, we are developing the energy self-sufficient commercial district “BE-U Behrens-Ufer” on an area of 10 hectares in Berlin-Oberschöneweide, the innovation and boom corridor of Berlin-Southeast, having just celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony. ASML, an innovation leader in the global semiconductor industry, has already secured 10,000 square meters of space.

Which companies/industries do you think would best benefit from locating in the Airport Region and why?

In addition to the general aviation-related industry clusters, we are seeing a steady increase in office demand from Berlin-based companies. Along with excellent transport connections and a high-performance communication network, they are particularly looking for affordable and energy-efficient new office space.

For them, commercial mixed-used quarters are being planned at BER, so that it won’t become a sole office-district, but rather a business hub seeing various service providers, trade companies, and commercial enterprise.

If you want to convince a potential investor of the benefits of the airport region as a business location, what would you say?

The development of the airport region, which spans Berlin’s southeast and the Brandenburg municipalities adjacent to BER, speaks for itself.

Whether it be due to the numerous company settlements from the automotive, biotechnology, energy industry and logistics sectors or due to the largest increase in population in Germany.
