Immobilen-experten-ag. has rented an area of around 2,500 square meters in the OFFICE LAB CAMPUS (OLC) to the bbw University of Applied Sciences. The lease has a term of 10 years and covers around 10% of the almost 26,000 square meters of rental space (gif) in the new building at the entrance to the Science and technology park in Berlin-Adlershof.
The university is leaving its location in Charlottenburg and will start teaching in the new building at Wagner-Régeny-Strasse 21 when the new building is completed next spring. The OLC is located directly at the Adlershof S-Bahn station and is a joint project of the Berlin project developer immobilien-experten-ag. and the Hessian construction company Adolf Lupp GmbH + Co KG.
“The conclusion of the contract before completion and the letting to a university confirm our concept of flexible building and floor plan design,” says Mareike Lechner, CEO of immobilien-experten-ag. The five-story building with its two parts and five entrances enables a building-in-building concept with rental units from 250 square meters and an integrated mix of uses. Modern office space, R&D rooms, prototype production, showrooms and physical laboratories can be implemented practically “wall to wall”. The sustainable and LEED Gold-certified new building will be connected to the Adlershof high-performance fiber optic network with 100 Gbit/s and is therefore ideally suited for digitally networked work.
“The light-flooded rooms in the OLC offer ideal conditions for the bbw University of Applied Sciences, whose goal is to provide business and industry in Berlin and Brandenburg with specialists and executives,” Lechner continues. “We are particularly pleased that we were able to convince the bbw University of Applied Sciences about the OLC, as it is more closely linked to the economy of the Berlin-Brandenburg region and the local business associations (UVB) than any other university.”
With currently around 1,200 students, the bbw University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest private, State-recognized universities in Berlin and Brandenburg. The courses offered are mainly economics and engineering bachelor’s and master’s degree courses, which can be completed full-time, part-time or as dual study programs. The institution responsible for the university is the bbw Academy for Business Education GmbH, a company of the Bildungswerk der Wirtschaft in Berlin and Brandenburg. Many well-known Berlin companies are members as well as business and employer associations.
“In the vicinity of Germany’s largest science and technology park, we see the best opportunities for research, teaching, scientific exchange and future partnerships,” says the Chancellor of the bbw University of Applied Sciences, Ursula Schwill. The University will do its part to improve further the specialist and managerial potential in the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan region. “There is exactly where we belong!”, confirms the Rector Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gebhard Hafer about the decision to move.
