Estrel plans a multifunctional hall for world-class congresses and events in Berlin

As construction of Berlin's first skyscraper, the Estrel Tower, enters its final phase, Estrel Berlin is moving forward with another groundbreaking project:

Adjacent to the new public park being developed around the Estrel Tower, a cutting-edge multipurpose hall with capacity for up to 10,000 guests is planned for construction. With this expansion, the "Estrel World" will become a premier destination for conventions and large-scale events of all kinds, offering an overall capacity to welcome up to 25,000 attendees, and significantly strengthening Berlin's position as a leading international meetings and events hub.

Architecture and Sustainability

The new multipurpose hall is being designed and executed by the renowned Berlin-based architecture firm Barkow Leibinger.

Sustainability is a core priority from the very beginning. While the Estrel Tower is aiming for the prestigious Platinum level in the international LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, the new hall will also integrate innovative building and design technologies. Plans include a rooftop photovoltaic system and extensive green roofing to minimize the ecological footprint.

Once completed, the Estrel complex-including the new hall, the Estrel Hotel, the Estrel Convention Center (ECC), and the Estrel Tower-will offer more than 50,000 square meters of event space and 1,700 guest rooms. This cements Estrel's position as Europe's largest hotel, convention, and entertainment complex.

Berlin Senator for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises, Franziska Giffey, evaluates the project positively:

"With the Estrel's new multi-purpose hall, Berlin's convention and events landscape will see a major expansion. The recently published convention study clearly shows how much more capacity we need across the city. I'm delighted that Estrel has recognized this potential and is extending its already impressive complex of Tower, Convention Center, and Hotel with this new hall."

Outstanding Accessibility

The Estrel complex offers exceptional connectivity. The Sonnenallee S-Bahn station is just steps away, and the newly opened highway exit of the same name makes Estrel the most accessible hotel and event complex in the capital. Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) can now be reached in just 15 minutes -a crucial advantage for international visitors and events.

In addition to Messe Berlin's newly planned Hall 9, Estrel's expansion once again increases the city's capacity for world-class conventions and events, further positioning itself as a top player in the national and international events market.

The building permit is expected to be secured next year, with the grand opening scheduled for 2028/2029.
