GEFCO moves into Panattoni Park Berlin South

Panattoni, the leading project developer for industrial and logistics facilities in Europe, has secured partial letting of its largest speculative facility to date, Panattoni Park Berlin South in Rangsdorf, Berlin-Brandenburg. The new occupier is GEFCO Deutschland GmbH, headquartered in Mörfelden-Walldorf, Hessen, an international provider of worldwide logistics and transport solutions.

In total, the Panattoni park covers 28 ha and involves four construction phases with a total usable area of around 130,000 sqm, which is split into five buildings and 13 units each with a warehouse height of 12 m. The facility boasts excellent links to the B96 federal road, the A10 Berlin orbital motorway and to other motorways that reach all parts of Germany.

GEFCO is moving into the area that will be completed during the first construction phase, with approx. 12,000 sqm of logistics space, consisting of 10,500 sqm of warehouse space, roughly 1,000 sqm of office space and 445 sqm of mezzanine space. There will also be car and lorry parking spaces. Panattoni is constructing the facility according to the gold standard of the German Sustainable Building Council using sustainable and resource-efficient methods.

Within the scope of project development, Panattoni implemented comprehensive infrastructural, environmental, traffic and conservation measures. In addition to renaturing parks and reconfiguring a 3,000 sqm protected estate park close to a primary school, fields for larks were fitted and a local species of lizard was rehoused. By constructing a new access road with turning area and improving the B96 junction, transport links to the Panattoni park have been optimised further and local traffic has been relieved.

The proximity to important manufacturers is also one of the area’s greatest strengths.”

“We are delighted that GEFCO has chosen to put down roots in Rangsdorf. This will help the local economy and regional trade. Furthermore, with the involvement of the project developer Panattoni in the expansion of the local industrial estate, other small and commercial enterprises from the region will be encouraged to move in and we have provided space for other companies as well,” explains mayor Klaus Rocher.

The first construction phase is set to be completed in January 2021. The new occupier GEFCO is expected to move in in March 2021. 

The broker firms JLL Berlin and BNP Paribas Berlin are responsible for the leasing of Panattoni Park Berlin South. There is 33,000 sqm of logistics space still available within the first construction phase.
