As an alternative to last year’s topping-out ceremony, which was canceled due to Covid, the Cologne-based project developer PANDION celebrated a summer party for its MIDTOWN project in Berlin’s Friedrichshain district on Thursday, August 19. The new construction project comprises 476 apartments, which will be realized in four construction phases by fall 2024. The building site is the site of the former Bohemian Brewery on Landsberger Allee, within walking distance of Volkspark Friedrichshain.
“With the beautiful celebration in summery weather, joined by the future owners, we honored the progress of construction and the work of all those involved in the project,” says Mathias Groß, branch manager of PANDION in Berlin. Even material shortages, unscheduled cold winter weeks, and video conferencing on the job site that took some getting used to for many didn’t stop the project.”
During the first construction phase with a total of 125 apartments, the facade work is in full swing and the interior work is also well advanced. Work has already begun on the shell of the second construction phase. The apartments of the first and second construction phases are almost completely sold. The purchasers are predominantly owner-occupiers who already live in Berlin.
The architectural firm DMSW Architekten Partnerschaft mbB is responsible for the first construction phase. The design for the second construction phase as well as the 30-unit subsidized housing construction is by Bollinger & Fehlig Architekten. The third and fourth phases are designed by agn Leusmann from Hamburg and Zanderroth Architekten, respectively.
