QUARTERBACK Immobilien AG & HIH celebrate topping-out for mixed-use project

QUARTERBACK Immobilien AG today celebrated the topping-out ceremony for its residential and commercial project, Darwinbogen, in Königs Wusterhausen. With this important construction milestone reached, the forward-looking district is steadily taking shape. The project comprises a total of 295 modern residential units and nine commercial spaces, built with a sustainable approach and certified to DGNB Silver and QNG standards. The first apartments are scheduled for completion in 2026.

Importance for urban development

Michaela Wiezorek, Mayor of Königs Wusterhausen, emphasised: “I am delighted that, after extensive planning, the Darwinbogen project is now being realised, providing new homes for both existing residents of Königs Wusterhausen and newcomers. This will allow the city to continue its structured growth and development.”

Henrik Thomsen, Member of the Executive Board at QUARTERBACK Immobilien AG, highlighted: “With Darwinbogen, we are creating a vibrant district that combines modern living with sustainable urban development. This new development also responds to the dynamic growth in the southeast of Berlin.”

Speaking on behalf of the purchaser, the HIH Group, Stefanie Löwe-Koch, Head of Office Management Office East/West & Residential Germany, stated: “We are pleased to celebrate the topping-out ceremony and look forward to the first apartments being ready for occupancy in about a year. This project makes a valuable contribution to the development of Königs Wusterhausen and strengthens the housing market in the greater Berlin area.”

The 295 residential units feature a variety of apartment sizes and offer approximately 22,283 square metres of rental space, providing ample room for families, couples, and singles. Additionally, around 2,021 square metres of commercial space will create an attractive mix of residential and service offerings within the district.

Sustainable living with high energy efficiency

Thanks to its efficient construction, the building consumes 27% less energy than conventional buildings. The Darwinbogen project has been awarded the DGNB Silver certification as well as the QNG seal, meeting high standards for environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.

Optimal connectivity and mobility options

The district's excellent transport connections further enhance its appeal, with convenient access to public transport and the nearby A10 motorway. By train, Berlin’s city centre can be reached from Königs Wusterhausen in just 28 minutes. For personal mobility, 450 parking spaces are available, including 426 in a modern underground car park. The rising demand for cycling is also supported by 420 bicycle parking spaces.

Königs Wusterhausen combines urban living with a natural setting. In addition to shopping opportunities such as the nearby A10 Centre and the town centre of Königs Wusterhausen, the area offers schools, childcare facilities, and a wide range of leisure activities close to lakes and forests. This unique combination of residential quality, sustainability, and urban infrastructure makes Darwinbogen an attractive place to live.
