Project-based development plan process initiated for Stadtturm as part of the JAHO Berlin-Mitte project

At the end of 2019, the developers, a joint venture of Art-Invest Real Estate and the CESA Group, agreed on the design planning for the second construction phase of the JAHO Berlin-Mitte project in a joint workshop process with the Berlin Senate Administration, Mitte district, and a jury of leading architects. On the basis of the winning design by David Chipperfield Architects, the Mitte district has now initiated the project-based development plan process for the high point of the project.

David Chipperfield Architects Berlin have created a unique design for the Stadtturm, which will become a landmark in dialog with surrounding structures and completes the city skyline. A sky bar open to the public is planned for the top floor of the approximately 20,000 m² high-rise building that will offer unique views of the Spree, Alexanderplatz, and the city beyond. The light-flooded ground floor takes up the existing topography of the surroundings to create a captivating interaction between interior and exterior spaces. "After successfully completing the preliminary coordination, another important planning phase begins with the project-related development plan process that has now been initiated. We are pleased that we're getting closer to implementing the ambitious design by David Chipperfield Architects," explains Lena Brühne, Partner at Art-Invest Real Estate and Berlin branch manager.

Together with the neighboring Stadthaus and Stadtloft, the Stadtturm will complete the three-building JAHO ensemble. “For the design of the station forecourt, we are working on a concept together with the State of Berlin, Mitte district, and directly adjacent neighbors. Our wish is to create an attractive and green city square in order to offer neighbors, commuters, and office workers a high quality space,” says Achaz von Oertzen, Managing Director of the CESA Group.

"The planned construction project not only combines high architectural standards at the Jannowitzbrücke junction, but also with a view to the overall concept, the area is being upgraded considerably through new shops to serve the Jannowitzbrücke S- and U-Bahn station as well as new, attractive recreational areas in the direct vicinity of the high-rise,” says Ephraim Gothe, deputy district mayor and district councilor for urban development in Mitte.
