DIEAG: Agreement with Treptow-Köpenick District on Behrens-Ufer master plan

DIEAG agrees with the district on an urban development concept for the redevelopment of the site of the former television electronics plant in Berlin-Oberschöneweide.

The plan is to revitalize the former industrial site along the Spree River as an open and modern commercial district for office use, laboratories, universities, and technology centers with offerings for restaurants and cafes, retail, art, culture, and social facilities. The development is to be built to the highest standards of climate friendliness and resource conservation.

Berlin-based DIE Deutsche Immobilien Entwicklungs AG (DIEAG) is investing around 1.1 billion euros in the development of the approximately 100,000 m2 site by the end of 2027. The creation of approx. 280,000 m2 GFA is planned. The Behrens-Ufer is thus currently the largest privately developed real estate project in Berlin. DIEAG has now reached a basic agreement with the urban planning authority and the lower monument protection authority on an urban development concept that will serve as the basis for the development plan procedure to be carried out.

The master plan drawn up by DIEAG in cooperation with GfP Gesellschaft für Planung envisages the opening up of the site, which has hitherto been inaccessible to the public, to urban development. The plan is to renovate the existing listed buildings and to construct new buildings including three high points up to a building height of almost 50 meters. An integrated site energy concept will make the Behrens-Ufer energy autonomous and climate friendly. The start of the renovation work in the listed building is planned for late summer 2021. Completion of the overall construction work is scheduled for the end of 2027.
