HIH leases further space to RTL in Berlin

RTL Deutschland has signed a new rental agreement with HIH Real Estate (HIH) (RTL). RTL expanded its 4,300 square meters of rental space in Berlin's Behrenpalais property at Behrenstrasse 19 by 1,630 square meters on June 1, 2022, and is leasing it for another ten years. Since the property's construction in 2015, RTL Deutschland has housed the capital city's studio for the broadcaster brands RTL and ntv. The structure is owned by HIH Invest and is part of a closed special fund.

"It is a tribute to the Behrenpalais that RTL, as a very reliable, prominent business partner, is expanding its rental space there," says Alexander Franzmann, Asset Manager at HIH. "This way, we can keep the asset's tenant structure stable. It is in a prime location, parallel to Unter den Linden and directly across from the Komische Oper." The Brandenburg Gate S-Bahn and U-Bahn stations are only 400 meters away, providing excellent public transportation access.

Facility Management. "The importance of cross-media journalistic reporting in Berlin is growing, and we are excited to start a new chapter for our capital city studio with the extension of our lease at the Behrenpalais."

Martin Schubert, HIH's Head of Leasing East Region, states: "We are pleased that we were able to permanently bind RTL to the location. We see it as a validation of our previous work that RTL is expanding the space again, and we want to meet expectations in the coming decade."

The multi-tenant property is fully let and has a total lettable area of just under 7,700 square meters on seven floors. A 131-space underground parking garage is available.
