inno2grid – ten years of innovation at the intersection of energy and mobility

The consulting and digital company inno2grid is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Since its founding in 2015 by the electrical engineering company Schneider Electric and Deutsche Bahn at the EUREF Campus in Berlin, the company has established itself across the DACH region as a driver of energy and mobility system transformation.

“Our goal has been to advance the intelligent integration of energy and mobility, particularly in urban environments. Over the past ten years, we have carried out numerous consulting projects for municipalities, energy providers, real estate developers, and mobility providers, providing impulses for sustainable urban development. In the future, we aim to further expand our impact across the DACH region and Europe, with the opening of our new Düsseldorf office later this year representing an important milestone,” says Frank Christian Hinrichs, Managing Director of inno2grid.

Consulting for a Sustainable Future

“The challenges of the coming years – climate neutrality, sustainable mobility, resilient energy systems – can only be addressed through competent consulting throughout the entire process,” emphasizes Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Grube, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of EUREF AG and former CEO of Deutsche Bahn AG.

The consultants at inno2grid support the conception and implementation of integrated energy and mobility solutions. These include:

Electromobility and charging infrastructure: Design and planning of customized charging ecosystems for districts, vehicle fleets, and eBus fleets.

  • Intelligent energy systems for commercial and public buildings and company sites: efficient use of renewable energy and innovative storage technologies.
  • Sustainable district concepts: Networking of buildings, energy supply, and mobility offerings.

Digital Innovation as a Growth Driver

“With inno2grid, we have built a strong joint venture that allows us to tackle the diverse challenges of modernizing our transport and energy infrastructure,” explained Stefan Geisperger, Managing Director International Markets and Consulting at DB Engineering & Consulting GmbH.

Since 2019, inno2grid has expanded its consulting business with a Digital Innovation Unit, whose business model, software, and service developers support clients in the development of new digital products and services as well as entire new business fields.

Kathrin Aehling, Vice President Channel & Marketing at Schneider Electric, explains: “Working with the impact makers is very enriching and a lot of fun! With their innovative business ideas and digital expertise, which they have contributed, for example, to our electromobility provider inno2fleet and our energy management software HEMSlogic, they play an important role in enabling the energy and mobility transition for our clients and creating real IMPACT.”

Innovation Hub at the EUREF Campus

At inno2grid’s “birthplace” and company location, the EUREF Campus Berlin, the innovative real estate developer EUREF AG has been demonstrating since 2014 how a CO²-neutral energy and mobility transition can be achieved through courage, entrepreneurial spirit, and partnership. At this location, with its established ecosystem, we create innovations in our innovation hub “zeemoBase,” for example at the Mobility2Grid research campus, and make the energy and mobility world of tomorrow tangible for policymakers, clients, and partners.
