Topping-out ceremony at the Quartier Heidestrasse: Shell of the southern part of QH Crown completed

The new Quartier Heidestrasse in Europacity is clearly approaching completion. Now the topping-out wreath has also been lifted over the first part of the two-part ensemble QH Crown, which completes the quarter in the north.

Located directly on Heidestraße, overlooking Nordhafen, QH Crown is the final building block of the new mixed-use quarter, which begins in the south with the already completed QH Spring and QH Core buildings. Designed by gmp Architects, QH Crown consists of two solitary structures at Nordhafen with a total of 15,071 square meters of GFA for office and 4,940 square meters of retail and restaurant space.

The internationally renowned and award-winning firm gmp Architekten is responsible for the ensemble’s modern architecture with bright, metropolitan facades accented by bronze and brass railings.

Fit for the future through diversity and innovation
“Today we are not only celebrating the completion of the shell of a new building in Europacity, but at the same time the next step towards the completion of our Quartier Heidestrasse,” said Thomas Bergander, Managing Director of Taurecon Real Estate Consulting, on the occasion of the topping-out ceremony. “Our vision of continuing to think in future terms about the neighborhood mix so typical of Berlin here on 8.5 hectares in sustainable modern architecture and combined with technological innovations for digital networking is becoming increasingly tangible. Life has already moved into the southern part of the quarter and the urban planning concept of the western end through the unique office ensemble QH Track is also becoming more visible by the day. Now, at the new Nordhafenplatz, QH Crown will add a highlight to the quarter, both architecturally and in terms of location.”

“We are thrilled to contribute to this visionary project with our design for QH Crown,” also stated Hans Joachim Paap, Associate Partner gmp Architekten, Berlin. “The individual buildings of Quartier Heidestrasse show the whole diversity of modern architecture and yet form a unity. We also wanted to take this unifying spirit into account with our design and at the same time meet the exposed location on the Nordhafen with elegance and lightness.”

QH Crown South is scheduled for completion in 2023. QH Crown North and the new Nordhafenplatz are expected to be completed in 2024.

Quartier Heidestrasse: Smart and environmentally friendly living and working
Quartier Heidestrasse is a multifaceted, approximately 8.5 ha urban district being created right in the center of Berlin. All forms of modern work, life, and living are combined here: The six sub-projects of the quarter comprise a total of around 295,000 square meters of GFA, including 266,350 square meters of office and residential space, 28,650 square meters of retail and restaurant space, as well as a hotel and a daycare center. The centerpiece of the quarter – QH Core – was already occupied in January 2021. The entire quarter is expected to be completed by 2024.
