SEGRO leases another 4,400 m² at the Airport Park Berlin

SEGRO has gained two new tenants for around 4,400 square meters of commercial space for its SEGRO Airport Park Berlin. JMarquardt Audiovisual GmbH will be renting almost 2,000 square meters from April 2022 – it is the European market leader in the provision of audiovisual technology for congresses and events, especially in the healthcare sector. In addition, Hempel GesundheitsPartner GmbH, a medical supply retailer, will lease approximately 2,400 square meters beginning in March 2022. The family company, founded in 1906, has 18 branches in Berlin and is relocating its logistics headquarters to the SEGRO Airport Park Berlin.

“Our latest leases show the attractiveness of our space for both international companies and long-established family businesses from Berlin,” says Christina Schultz, Associate Director Development Light Industrial at SEGRO.

The space now leased relates to the buildings to be completed in December 2021, and eight of the ten available units have already been leased. At the end of 2021, SEGRO also started the construction of two further urban logistics buildings with 18,500 square meters of commercial space. After completion of this expansion, the commercial part of the SEGRO Airport Park Berlin will cover a total of approx. 82,000 square meters. In addition, SEGRO Airport Park Berlin has a logistics section whose 72,500 square meters of rental space have been fully leased for some time. Accordingly, the total area of SEGRO Airport Park Berlin will be 154,500 square meters after the current expansion. The expansion of the area is not yet complete and planning for the subsequent construction phase will begin in 2022. The Airport Park currently has around 70 tenants from a wide range of sectors, from medical technology to yacht and aircraft construction, transport and logistics companies to classic trades.

At the end of 2021, SEGRO also acquired a 63-hectare plot of land from the Berlin Brandenburg airport company to expand the SEGRO Airport Park Berlin. 32 hectares of these are intended for green and compensation areas and 31 hectares for new commercial areas. Additional light industrial and urban logistics buildings are planned. The areas are to be used to expand the existing SEGRO Airport Park Berlin by a further 140,000 square meters of commercial space, so that the entire area together with the existing areas of SEGRO will cover almost 300,000 square meters.

All areas of the site have been awarded the DGNB Gold sustainability certificate. SEGRO focuses on sustainability in many ways. For example, wooden trusses are used instead of concrete beams, the roofs are greened and a sustainable greening concept is implemented. In addition, energy-saving LED lighting will be installed and e-charging stations will be installed for each rental unit.

SEGRO Airport Park Berlin is part of the Business Park Berlin, which is being developed in cooperation with the district of Treptow-Köpenick into one of the largest contiguous commercial areas in Berlin. It has excellent transport links with its location directly on the Federal highway 96a and connections to the A 113 and A117 motorways as well as an S-Bahn connection within walking distance. Berlin Brandenburg Airport can be reached in a few minutes by car.
